711-2 The Greatest Blessings

Hear, O Yashar’El: Yahuah our Elohiym is one Yahuah: And you shall love Yahuah your Elohiym with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart: And you shall teach them diligently unto your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them upon the posts of your house, and on your gates.

DEBARIM (DEUTERONOMY) 6:4-9

As time progressed, I got married and had three beautiful children. Now, I have two granddaughters and they are the greatest joy in my life. All of my children and grandchildren are so special to me. I love them dearly. When we think of our “calling”. I knew my “calling” was to be a mother and now a grandmother. It is my favorite role and always will be. Watching them walk for the first time;  watching them read for the first time; watching them learn to drive for the first time; watching them work and have a family of their own… I have loved every stage and still do.

Even though all my children are adults now, I am still their mother. I take care of each one of those relationship bonds and never take them for granted. Yahusha says, he who is faithful with little will be faithful with much. I guess, I wanted to show him that he could count on me. One of the greatest decisions I ever made was homeschooling my children. We went to a Christian homeschool conference when we were thinking about homeschooling our children. I saw the following verse posted at the conference.

Debarim/Deuteronomy 6:4-9

I saw that sign and knew that this is what Yah wanted me to do. This was before the next great awakening in my life. When I started homeschooling them, I began thinking that it was for religious reasons. As time went by, I fell in love with homeschooling because of the deep relationships that I developed with my children. I saw their likes and dislikes and their strengths and their weaknesses. I watched them develop and discover new things. It was an incredible experience.

All three of my children started community college at 16 and have excelled in their respective careers. My children are the reason I started writing all these studies posted on this website. These studies are like a love-note from a caring mother to her children. One day, I know they may want to glean what I have to share.

As a young adult, I was involved in a public speaking group called Toastmasters. It helped me become a better communicator and leader. I was so shy and insecure. Our first speech was supposed to be about ourselves. I was so nervous, I had to write out the details of my life word-for-word and read it without looking up. I was so afraid I would go blank reading about my own life. As if I could not read the story from memory. I have come a long way since then and I am grateful for the contribution Toastmasters has made to my life.

As I was homeschooling my children, I wanted them to gain the benefits that I had attained in Toastmasters. I ended up writing a Speakers for Jesus Manual and started a homeschool public speaking club. Both kids and parents were required to participate. It was an amazing experience! Here is a picture of my very first copy of the Speakers for Jesus Manual.

On one particular day, my eight-year-old son was evaluating another boy’s speech on “photography”. My son must have been very nervous because of the way he was rocking back-and-forth. In his evaluation of the speech, he was telling this other young man that he really liked his speech on “pornography”. I don’t think my son even knew what that was at eight-years-old. Of course, I was mortified but we all laughed about it afterwards. People were very supportive and active in the club. Many young people over the years have benefited from this experience and the club is still running to this day.

During this time, I became a Registered Nurse and worked in Oncology, Home Health, Hospice, Community Outreach, and ended my career with Vascular Access. At 20 years-old, I wanted to be a nurse so I could help people and that is what I did. Patients are vulnerable and open up to nurses. I have shared many precious moments with my patients in my 32-year career that I will never forget.

My oldest daughter, pictured left with her two daughters, followed in my foot-steps and became a Registered Nurse as well. I knew it was in her future when she wrote her research papers on the Bubonic Plague and Anthrax. In our careers, we had an opportunity to work together in an outpatient clinic. She was tall with blonde hair and green-eyes. I was short with brown hair and brown eyes. Patients did not know we were related. One day, I was starting an IV on a patient. He looked over at Ashley and told me how she was such an awesome, caring nurse. He was not the only one that talked about her. I was so proud of her and was delighted in the way she cared for her patients. It was a very special time in our lives to be able to work together.

My son became a mechanical engineer. He chose this field because he hated writing. Well, a few weeks into his first job, he asked me to proof-read one of his reports. I agreed and proceeded to read it. It was filled with so many technical terms and jargon that went way over my head. I had to tell my son he was on his own now. However, I did catch the sentence about aliens in his report. When writing his research papers as a kid, he would put these random sentences about something totally unrelated in his paper. Of course, as his teacher, I would run across these random sentences which made me laugh. I did ask if Alex removed the sentence about “aliens” before his boss read it. Although, I think his boss would have laughed too.

My youngest daughter is a successful business woman and my extrovert. I remember going to a store when she was three. She saw another little girl and started talking to her right away. She had no fear of talking to people and still doesn’t. When we got into the car on this particular day, I heard her say, “I miss my best friend so much”. She was talking about her new little friend that she talked to for five minutes. Her little face was so sad. When we went to her brother’s basketball games, she would go and talk to all the parents about the movie, the Scarlet Pimpernel and how great it was. The next week, she was loaning the movie out to a parent who agreed to watch it. Now, she has made friends all over the world. What an amazing lady!

My oldest daughter married a wonderful man who is a very good husband to my daughter and a good father to their two little girls. These beautiful ladies are budding artists following the artistic aptitude of their mom and dad. Luke has a degree in Art and has had some of his work displayed in galleries. He is very talented. Spending time with them doing art projects is one of my favorite things to do. Of course, last summer we had an intense water fight in which they showed no mercy. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

We have had a very full life: dance, basketball, boy scouts, girl scouts, Eagle Scout projects, babysitting jobs, pizza jobs, trips, gardening, hiking, back-packing, building houses. In the midst of all this, I still made time to be with our Father and learn His Ways. Walking with Him is a life journey that never ends and is always exciting.
