3-1 The Ordinances Against Us
Torah Portion 3-1 Bereshith (Genesis) 3:1-24
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
This Torah portion discusses the Fall of mankind. Before this moment, Adam and Chavah obeyed our Father and ALL of His Laws. They were without sin in the Garden of Eden. They had access to the Tree of Life which grew in the midst of the Garden.
And out of the ground made Yahuah Elohiym to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the Tree of Life also in the midst of the Garden, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Our Father created mankind to occupy the Garden of Eden in this state. This is their original intended location designated for them.
And Yahuah Elohiym planted a Garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

The Tree of Life allows one to live forever based on the following testimony:
And Yahuah Elohiym said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the Tree of Life, and eat, and live FOREVER:Therefore, Yahuah Elohiym sent him forth from the Garden of Eden, to till the ground from where he was taken. So, he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the Garden of Eden Kerubiym, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the Tree of Life.
If Adam and Chavah had not sinned, they could have eaten from the Tree of Life and lived forever. They would have lived in a place with no thorns and thistles. The ground would not have been cursed. It would be easy to grow plants and trees. There would be no toil, suffering or sorrow. There would be no harsh and oppressive leaders ruling over them. These curses did not exist until after they had sinned.
Our Father could not let Adam and Chavah occupy the Garden of Eden after they had sinned. They had corrupted themselves. Yahuah Elohiym could not allow them to live forever in that state, so they had to be removed from their original intended home. He cast them out of the Garden into the wilderness.

With no access to the Tree of Life, they cannot live forever. In order for us to obtain eternal life, we need access to the Garden of Eden. However, these Words spoken by our Father prevent us from accessing the Garden.
And Yahuah Elohiym said unto the serpent, Because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life: And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall strike your head, and you shall strike his heel. Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in sorrow you shall bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you. And unto Adam he said, Because you have heard and obeyed the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, you shall not eat of it: cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shall eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return unto the ground; for out of it were you taken: for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return. And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. Unto Adam also and to his wife did Yahuah Elohiym make coats of skins, and clothed them. And Yahuah Elohiym said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the Tree of Life, and eat, and live FOREVER: Therefore, Yahuah Elohiym sent him forth from the Garden of Eden, to till the ground from where he was taken. So, he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the Garden of Eden Kerubiym, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the Tree of Life.
This is a judgement pronounced upon Adam and Chavah at the end of the first week of Creation. Yahuah had worked a “week” for the opportunity to have fellowship with mankind. But He was disappointed because Adam and Chavah chose to disobey His Voice. This parallels the life of the patriarch Ya’aqob (Jacob). He worked seven years for Rachel, Laban’s younger daughter. However, when he awakened the next morning, he discovered that he had married Leah and was disappointed. Laban told him to “fulfill her week” and then he would give Ya’aqob his younger daughter Rachel also.
And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this that you have done unto me? did not I serve with you for Rachel? Why then have you beguiled me? And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn. Fulfil her week, and we will give you this also for the service which you shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
Our Father is “fulfilling Adam’s week” and working another cycle of seven to obtain the object of His desire which is to have fellowship with mankind. Yahuah is working another week for “Rachel”. However, His own Words stand in the way. They are a hurdle or an invisible wall between Him and us. He cannot change or delete the Words He has spoken because His Words stand forever.
The grass withers, the flower fades: but the Word of our Elohiym shall stand FOREVER.
We cannot erase the Words spoken in Bereshith (Genesis) 3:14-24. Our Father cannot erase them. These Words must be “fulfilled” or come to pass. As the offspring of Adam, we are obligated to “fulfill” these Words. The only way we can be released from the requirements of these Words is through redemption. Someone who is NOT a bloodline son of Adam can redeem us from these curses and death by “fulfilling” them upon our behalf. If he “fulfills” the judgement, then we are no longer obligated to do so. He would need to be a second Adam.
According to the Laws of redemption, the redeemer must be a near relative; he must have the resources to pay our debt; and he must be willing to pay the debt. Messiah Yahusha Ben David is the second Adam. Yahuah Elohiym is the Father to both Adam and Yahusha. They are brothers. Messiah Yahusha resisted the Temptation in the Wilderness and did not commit sin. If he had sinned, he would have inherited his own set of curses and death like the first Adam. Messiah Yahusha was at an age of accountability when he could exercise his own freewill to pay his brother’s debt. He was willing. Messiah Yahusha “fulfilled” the Words spoken by our Father in Bereshith (Genesis) 3:14-24 on our behalf. Our Father accepted his payment because Yahuah resurrected him from the dead.
Now, we are no longer obligated to “fulfill” the Words spoken in Bereshith 3:14-24. Our Father is free to resurrect everyone from the first death. These are the “handwriting of ordinances that stand against us” mentioned in the following testimony:
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
The Words in Bereshith 3:14-24 prevent us from gaining access to the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life which allows us to live forever. These handwriting of ordinances that stand against us are not Roman Laws. The laws of the Roman Empire are no longer applicable because the kingdom no longer exists. These ordinances do not include the entire Torah because most of the Torah is FOR us and blesses us. The promises of life are in the Torah. The Laws for redemption are in the Torah that provided a way for us to be set free from these Words spoken by our Father. The Words that stand against us are the Words spoken in Bereshith (Genesis) 3:14-24. As a result of this redemption, everyone is going to be resurrected from the dead.
For since by MAN came death, by MAN came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam ALL die, even so in Messiah shall ALL be made alive.
In Adam, we ALL died. In Messiah, we shall ALL be made alive. ALL of us are going to be resurrected from the dead regardless of merit. ALL of us will receive regenerated bodies that are no longer corrupted. These are bodies that can enter the Garden of Eden and access the Tree of Life. However, our Father cannot allow anyone who practices sin to enter the Garden. Adam and Chavah were removed because they committed sin. The sin corrupted their bodies. If someone commits sin in their regenerated body, they will corrupt their flesh again and will not be allowed to access the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life. They will die the second death for which there is no redemption. The second death is permanent. There will be no resurrection from the second death.
People who have chosen to repent from their sins will not corrupt their regenerated flesh. Because they do not commit sins, they are allowed access to the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life. They will live forever. This has been made possible through the redemption offered by Messiah Yahusha Ben David. Because they have repented from their sins, they are not in the habit of committing sins. Because they are constantly reading and studying the Laws of our Father, they are purging the dross from their minds, hearts and bodies.
Our Father is righteous and just. Because He did not allow Adam and Chavah to stay the Garden of Eden in their sinful corrupted state, He cannot allow anyone else to enter and stay in the Garden of Eden in their sinful corrupted state. If we do not have access to the Tree of Life, there is no possible way for us to live forever. Therefore, the true message of salvation is to repent from our sins. Our Messiah confirms this in the following testimony:
I tell you, Nay: but, except you repent, you shall all likewise perish.
When our Messiah said, “you shall all likewise perish,” he is speaking of the second death. It is something avoidable. Something that we can prevent by repenting from our sins. We don’t have to perish. He is telling us to STOP sinning so that we can have access to the Garden of Eden in the resurrection. “Sins” are violations of our Father’s Laws written in the Torah by the Prophet Moshe.
Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the Law: for sin is the transgression of the Law.
When we STOP violating the Laws of our Father, we are obeying ALL of His Laws. “Repentance” is “obedience to ALL the Laws of Yahuah”. Every time “repentance” is mentioned, it is a call to obey ALL of the Laws of Yahuah written in the Torah by the Prophet Moshe. This is what Messiah Yahsuha is telling us to do in Luke 13:3. If we obey ALL of the Laws of Yahuah, we will no longer be committing sins and will be granted access to the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life. This is confirmed in the following testimony:
Blessed are they that DO his commandments, that they may have right to the Tree of Life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie.
It is vitally important for us to learn the Laws of our Father and align our lives with Him. It is a high priority because there is no greasy grace that allows one to continue in sin and have access to the Tree of Life. Partial obedience to His Laws is also insufficient and will lead to unfavorable eternal outcomes as well. This ought to make us fear and tremble knowing our Father is righteous and just. He is obligated to “fulfill” His Laws as they are written. He cannot be lenient in one because then He would have to be lenient in all. He has drawn the line and it is up to us to align our lives in accordance to His Ways so that we can inherit the amazing promises He has for us in His eternal Kingdom.
