69-3 The Fine Linen of Righteousness

Torah Portion 69-3 Shemoth (Exodus) 25:1-27:19

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

REVELATION 19:7-8

When our Father created everything in the very beginning, everything had been given a “covering”. Animals have fur or hair which covers their entire bodies. Birds have feathers. It is not necessary for animals to wear clothing. Even mankind had a covering as illustrated in the following testimony:

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Bereshith/Genesis 2:25

They were naked but did not see that they were naked. They were “covered” with something.

After they sinned, they realized they were naked. They had lost their “covering”. As a result, they attempted to make clothing for themselves from the leaves in the Garden.

And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the sound of Yahuah Elohiym walking in the Garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahuah Elohiym among the trees of the Garden. And Yahuah called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where are you? And he said, I heard your sound in the Garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Bereshith/Genesis 3:7-10

The Hebrew word translated as “naked” is “eyrom” and it and its root are defined the following way by The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible as:

MWRY[ ( masc., עירום / ey-rom) Translation: NAKED Definition: Without clothes in the sense of bare skin. Alternate Spellings: ערם עירם KJV Translations: naked, nakedness Strong’s Hebrew #: h.5903

R[ (ער) Action: Bare, Uncover, Watch Object: Skin, Naked, Neck Definition: When the enemy is captured, he is stripped of his clothes to the skin and carefully watched. Ancient Hebrew: The pictograph [ is a picture of the eye, the R is a picture of a man. Combined these mean “see a man”.

Adam and Chavah’s eyes were opened and they could see that they were naked. Before, they did not see their nakedness and now they could. It is “sin” that caused them to lose their “covering”. Our Father made coats from animal skins for them to cover their nakedness or to cover their shame.

Unto Adam also and to his wife did Yahuah Elohiym make coats of skins [H5785], and clothed them.

Bereshith/Genesis 3:21

In order for this to occur, it required the slaughter of an animal similar to the sacrificial system. The animal “covers” our sin or provides “atonement”. This is the definition of “atonement”. The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible defines it as:

RPK ( common, כפר / k.p.r) Translation: COVER (V) Definition: To afford protection or security; to hide from sight or knowledge; to cover over as with a lid.Alternate Translations: make reconciliation (when written in the piel [intensive] form) Edenics: cover – with the exchange of the v and p KJV Translations: atonement, purge, reconcile, forgive, purge, pacify, mercy, cleanse, disannul, appease, put, pardon, pitch Strong’s Hebrew #: h.3722

The Tent of Appointment was also clothed in animal skins like Adam and Chavah.

And you shall make a covering for the tent of rams’ skins [H5785] dyed red, and a covering above of fine leather [H5785].

Shemoth/Exodus 26:14

Animals had to be slaughtered to provide the skins for the Tent. They “covered” the Set-apart Place and the Most Set-apart Place in the Tent. Likewise, our skin “covers” our spirit that dwells inside of us. It is a form of “tabernacle” for our spirit. The text says, that we are made in the image and likeness of Yahuah. His Set-apart Spirit dwells inside the Tabernacle or Temple. Our spirit dwells inside our bodies which is just like the example of our Father “filling” the earthly Tabernacle.

There are two compartments in the Tent of Appointment. The Set-apart Place which is where our spirit dwells inside of us and the Most Set-apart Place which is reserved for Yahuah. It symbolizes our spiritual heart. In the heart of the Tabernacle is the Ark of the Covenant with the Ten Debarim, the written Law, the manna and Aahron’s rod.

The court of the Tabernacle of Appointment is enclosed in panels made from white linen which represents the “covering” or “clothing” for Betulah, the virgin. It is the “covering” that “covers” the Tent made from animal skins. Adam and Chavah experienced two types of “coverings” in the beginning:

  1. Covering before they sinned. (Righteousness)
  2. Covering of animal skins after they sinned. (Unrighteousness)

If we are “covered” in animal skins, we “look” like an animal as illustrated in the photo. If we “look” like an animal and “behave” like an animal, are we an animal or a beast?

This describes the concept of “walking in the flesh” which is allowing our flesh to dictate our actions or behaviors. We allow our primitive urges to have free reign. When we are hungry, we eat. When we are thirsty, we drink. When we are aroused, we procreate. When we are threatened, we fight. These are the behaviors of an animal. People who “walk according to the flesh” do not subdue their primitive urges and bring them into submission to our Father’s Laws.

They are like the beasts of the earth. Our Father clothed Adam and Chavah in animal skins because they were behaving like the beasts of the earth. They were given the “covering” of an animal and not the “covering” they had in the beginning.

The Tabernacle was “covered” in animal skins. The animal is flesh and represents our own flesh in the sacrificial system. We must kill our fleshly desires just as this animal was killed to provide the skins for the covering. “Betulah” must kill the primitive urges of her flesh and not behave like an animal. We must tether them and bring them into obedience to the Laws of our Father.

“Betulah” or the “Tabernacle” has a “covering” made of “fine linen”. This is represented by the white linen panels that create the courtyard around the inner tent. It covers the Tent made from animal skins. This represents the “covering” Adam and Chavah had before they sinned. In Revelation, the bride of Messiah is clothed in fine, clean, white linen. It is symbolic for “righteousness”.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Revelation 19:7-8

The bride of Messiah must be a virgin. It is forbidden for a priest to marry any woman who is NOT a virgin.

And he shall take a wife in her virginity. A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or a harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

Vayiqra/Leviticus 21:13-14

Our Messiah is a High Priest and King. He is required by the Law to marry a “virgin” from his own people. Whether this a reference to a single woman or a collective group of people, ALL must be “virgins”. This means that we do not hear and obey the voice of anyone else but our Father. Messiah

Yahusha cannot marry a “harlot” which is someone who hears and obeys the voices of many leaders. This individual may celebrate Christmas, Easter and Halloween. They may abort their own child and encourage others to do the same. They may believe in the Theory of Evolution. Their words and actions reflect multiple voices that have entered their minds and hearts. They are the fruits or their “offspring” so-to-speak. We can clearly see that the father of their “offspring” is not Yahuah.

People who hear and obey the Voice of Yahuah produce a certain set of words and actions. Their “offspring” or “fruit” reveals that Yahuah is their Father. This is confirmed in the Law that says “righteousness” in the eyes of Yahuah includes obedience to ALL of the commandments of Yahuah written by the Prophet Moshe.

And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do ALL these commandments before Yahuah our Elohiym, as he has commanded us.

Debarim/Deuteronomy 6:25

The bride of Messiah is clothed in “righteousness”. The Tabernacle of Appointment is clothed in “righteousness”. The Tabernacle is a picture of Betulah, the virgin. It is a picture of our Father’s people. Adam and Chavah were clothed in “righteousness” in the very beginning before they sinned. The phrase “Walking in the Spirit” is obedience to ALL of the Laws of our Father written by the Prophet Moshe. These people are clothed in righteousness. This understanding is further confirmed in the following passage:

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of Elohiym was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of Elohiym does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of Elohiym.

1 Yochanan/John 3:7-9

Messiah Yahusha did not sin. He was and is “righteous”. His bride is “righteous” as he is “righteous”. Whosoever is born from Elohiym does not sin which means they do not transgress any of the Laws written by the Prophet Moshe. They are “clothed” in “righteousness” which is represented by the pure, white linen.

In Revelation, the seven messengers which came out of the Temple in Heaven in were clothed in pure and white linen. They were clothed in righteousness which means they obey ALL of the Laws of Yahuah written by the Prophet Moshe.

And the seven messengers came out of the Temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.

Revelation 15:6

The armies of our Messiah at the end of the age are clothed in “white linen”:

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

Revelation 19:14

They are clothed in “righteousness”. They are also obedient to ALL of the Laws of Yahuah written by the Prophet Moshe. This is what “fine, white linen” means. In the Law, the garments and head covering for the Levitical Priesthood are made of “fine linen”.

And you shall embroider the coat of fine linen, and you shall make the miter of fine linen, and you shall make the girdle of needlework.

Shemoth/Exodus 28:39

They are clothed in “righteousness” and are to be obedient to ALL the Laws of Yahuah as well. It is their responsibility to teach the Law to the House of Yashar’El.

They shall teach Ya’aqob your judgments, and Yashar’El your Law [Torah]: they shall put incense before you, and whole burnt sacrifice upon your altar.

Debarim/Deuteronomy 33:10

If they are to “teach” the Law, then they must “know” the Law and “DO” the Law themselves. The Levites cannot teach what they do not know and do. The same is true of prophets, leaders, teachers and kings. The skins covering the Tabernacle were dyed red. But the outer covering for the court is fine linen.

And you shall make the court of the Tabernacle: for the south side southward there shall be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of a hundred cubits long for one side:

Shemoth/Exodus 27:9

The “righteousness” of our Father is our covering that was lost in the very beginning. We can regain our “covering” by hearing and obeying His Voice which is His Word. Also, at the end of the sixth day, everything that our Father had created was “very good” or “very functional” from His perspective.

And Elohiym saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good [functional]. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Bereshith/Genesis 1:31

“Functional” behavior in the eyes of our Father is described in Debarim (Deuteronomy) 30:15-20. From His perspective, “obedience to His Laws” is “functional” and “disobedience to His Laws” is “dysfunctional”. This indicates that Adam and Chavah obeyed the Laws of our Father in the very beginning before they had sinned. The Hebrew reveals something very interesting. The Hebrew word for the number “six” and “linen” is the same exact word. These were taken from the passages in this lesson just as they appear in the text. The letters highlighted in black are prefixes and suffixes in the Hebrew.

The “shin” is a picture of two front teeth which are white. Adam and Chavah were created on the sixth day with their first “covering” which is akin to “fine, white, linen” or “righteousness”. ‘Linen” is “white” like the teeth.

It is highly likely that this “covering” was “white light” in the beginning. We can draw this conclusion from an example in the Testimonies written by Moshe. The Prophet had spent a great deal of time with Yahuah in the mount. When he descended the mountain, his skin was very shiny and bright which frightened the people including Aahron, the High Priest.

And it came to pass, when Moshe came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moshe’s hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moshe did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. And when Aahron and all the children of Yashar’El saw Moshe, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.

Shemoth/Exodus 34:29-30

In the very beginning, Adam and Chavah lived with Yahuah and interacted with Him all of the time. Their skin must have shone very brightly like the skin of Moshe. When they sinned, they lost their “covering” of light because they were now children of darkness, “walking in the flesh”. They saw that they were “naked”. They had become an enemy to our Father and were stripped of their clothes or covering.

When we practice sin, we are “naked” in the eyes of our Father even if we are wearing clothes. He sees our shame. When we repent and obey ALL of the Laws of our Father, we are “clothed” or “covered” in His righteousness represented by the white linen. He does not see our shame.

The Tent of Appointment is a picture of Betulah, the virgin. It is a model representing someone from the House of Yashar’El in their ideal state. When we reach our “ideal” state, our Father can “fill” our Temple the way He “filled” the Tabernacle of Appointment in the wilderness.

Then a cloud covered the Tent of the Appointment, and the glory of Yahuah filled the tabernacle.

Shemoth/Exodus 40:34

This communicates to us that our Father cannot descend upon us and “fill” us until we have been completely set-apart like the sanctuary in the wilderness. ALL the implements had to go through a process to be set-apart before the Tabernacle could even be used by our Father. This is achievable based on the following testimony:

And Yahuah came down in a cloud, and spoke unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

Bemidbar/Numbers 11:25

The seventy elders were “filled” with the Set-apart Spirit of Yahuah. This means they were in complete obedience to the Laws of our Father written by the Prophet Moshe. Our Father cannot dwell in a vessel that has not been set-apart and we become set-apart by obeying ALL of His Laws. It is His Laws that sets us apart from the ways of the world.
