The Word

131-2 Prophets Defined

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put My Words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

DEBARIM (DEUTERONOMY) 18:18

When Yahuah spoke directly to His people at the base of Mount Sinai, they were frightened and thought they were going to die. As a result, they asked that Yahuah Elohiym not ever speak to them directly again. They asked Moshe to speak the Words of Yahuah.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moshe, You speak to us, and we will hear: but do not let Elohiym speak with us, lest we die.

(Shemoth/Exodus 20:18-19

Our Father thought this was a wise idea. He told His people that He would raise up Prophets from among their brethren who would speak the Words of Yahuah Elohiym.

And Yahuah said unto me, “They have spoken well that which they have spoken”. I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put My Words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hear and obey My Words which he shall speak in My Name, I will require it of him.

Debarim/Deuteronomy 18:17-19

Anyone who does NOT hear and obey the Words of Yahuah spoken through His Prophets will suffer consequences for not doing so. This is reiterated in the eyewitness accounts:

For Moshe truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall Yahuah your Elohiym raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Acts 3:22-23

People who do not hear and obey the Words spoken by a Prophet will be destroyed. The people did not want Yahuah Elohiym to speak to them directly. They wanted Moshe to speak to them. They said that they would hear and obey the Words spoken by the Prophet Moshe. Our Father thought this was good and has raised up Prophets and Prophetesses who speak His Words and represent Him. People who do not hear and obey His Prophets will be destroyed from among their people.

This is the message. If we are NOT hearing and obeying the Words spoken by Moshe (Moses), Yeshayahu (Isaiah), Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah), Yechezqel (Ezekiel) and Yahusha (Jesus), we will be destroyed. Shaul of Tarsus (Paul) is NOT a prophet. We do not have any testimony that says Shaul is a Prophet or that he claims to be a Prophet. He calls himself an “apostle’. Here are four testimonies regarding this fact:

Shaul, a servant of Messiah Yahusha, called to be an apostle, separated unto the good news of Elohiym,

(Romans 1:1

Shaul, called to be an apostle of Messiah Yahusha through the will of Elohiym, and Sosthenes our brother,

1 Corinthians 1:1

Shaul, an apostle of Messiah Yahusha by the will of Elohiym, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of Elohiym which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:

2 Corinthians 1:1

Shaul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Messiah Yahusha, and Elohiym the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

Galatians 1:1

The Greek word for “prophet” is “prophētēs” and the Greek word for “apostle” is “apostolos”. These are different roles and responsibilities. The Greek word for “apostle” in the Septuagint is “shalach” and not the Hebrew word for “prophet”. The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible written by Jeff A. Benner defines “shalach” the following way:

XLF ( common, שלח / sh.l.hh) Translation: SEND (V) Definition: To cause to go; to direct, order, or request to go. Alternate Translations: send off (when written in the piel [intensive] form) KJV Translations: send, go, lay, put, cast, stretch, depart, sow, loose Strong’s Hebrew #: h.7971 Strong’s Aramaic #: a.7972

“Shalach” is someone who is sent. Our Father clearly stated that “prophets” speak on His behalf. This Hebrew word is “navi” and is not even in the same Hebrew word family as “shalach”. The Hebrew words translated as ‘prophet’ and ‘prophetess’ are defined by The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible written by Jeff A. Benner as:

ABN נבא  Definition: A fruit produced from the inside of man. A knowledge of something that is not known by the five senses.

AYBN   ( masc., נביא / na-vi ) Translation: PROPHET Definition: One who utters the words or instructions of Elohiym that are received through a vision or dream. Relationship to Root: One who brings forth the inner fruit. KJV Translations: prophet, prophecy Strong’s Hebrew #: h.5030 Strong’s Aramaic #: a.5029

HAYBN   ( fem., נביאה / na-vi-ah ) Translation: PROPHETESS Definition: One gifted with more than ordinary spiritual and moral insight. Who brings forth the inner fruit. KJV Translations: prophetess Strong’s Hebrew #: h.5031

Here are the pictures associated with this Hebrew word:

We can see the “seed revealed inside the House of Strong Authority”. The Prophet of Yahuah reveals those things that are hidden. The Hebrew word pictures for “Shalach” are illustrated below:

The letter “shin” is a picture of two front teeth. When a child loses its baby teeth, new teeth sprout or shoot forth. The “lamed” is a picture of the shepherd’s staff. When he or she was ready to embark on a journey, they would grab their staff and go. The “chet” is a wall and means “outside”. We can clearly see the definition of this word in these pictures.

Testimony tells us that Shaul of Tarsus (Paul) was “sent-out” to teach people the good news.

For Messiah sent me not to baptize, but to preach the good news: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Messiah should be made of none effect.

(1 Corinthians 1:17

So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the good news to you that are at Rome also.

Romans 1:15

Shaul of Tarsus is not a Prophet representing Yahuah Elohiym verified by his own words. Therefore, his words are NOT the Words of Yahuah. His testimonies are letters written in an attempt to explain the good news because that was his purpose.

The testimonies from the Prophets representing Yahuah firmly establish that they are His Prophet. The ALL speak the “Word of Yahuah”. Here are five witnesses that establish this truth.

The vision of Yeshayahu the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Yahudah and Yerushalayim in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Yahudah.

Yeshayahu/Isaiah 1:1

Hear the Word of Yahuah, you rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the Law of our Elohiym, you people of Gomorrah.

Yeshayahu/Isaiah 1:10

The Words of Yirmeyahu the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin: To whom the Word of Yahuah came in the days of Yoshiyah the son of Amon king of Yahudah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

Yirmeyahu/Jeremiah 1:1-2

The Word of Yahuah came expressly unto Yechezqel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of Yahuah was there upon him.

Yechezqel/Ezekiel 1:3

In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the Word of Yahuah unto Zakaryah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, Yahuah has been sore displeased with your fathers.

Zakaryah/Zechariah 1:1-2

The burden of the Word of Yahuah to Yashar’El by Malakiy.

Malakiy/Malachi 1:1

NONE of the Greek writings follow this pattern. NONE of the authors of the Greek writings state they are a Prophet representing Yahuah Elohiym. NONE of them are written by “Prophets”. Therefore, they are NOT defined as the Word of Yahuah according to His own testimony.

These are the Words of our Father. He puts His Words in the mouths of His Prophets. Their testimony is His Testimony. “Sent ones” share the Good News. Their testimony is their testimony. Here is an illustration making this distinction.

Testimony tells us that Yahusha was perceived as a Prophet.

And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke of them. But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

Mattithyahu/Matthew 21:45-46

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

Yochanan/John 7:40

However, he did not write the testimonies regarding his birth, life, ministry, death, resurrection and ascension. Eyewitnesses wrote about him and his life. If Yahusha had written these testimonies, they would have been defined as the Word of Yahuah.

This distinction is important because it is wise to heed the Words spoken and subsequently written by our Father’s true Prophets. If we do NOT hear and obey the Words of the Prophets sent by Yahuah, the text says that we will be destroyed. Failing to align with the eyewitness accounts in the Greek writings does not come with this kind of warning.

This is a serious issue because many people consider the Greek writings the “Word of Yahuah” and place these testimonies ABOVE the Words of the Prophets. Here is the evidence side-by-side between a known, verified Prophet of Yahuah and the words of Shaul of Tarsus.

It does not matter what early church fathers have said. It does not matter what scholars say or have said. It doesn’t matter what the Roman Catholic Church says or the leaders of Protestant Christianity. This is evidence that we can see with our own eyes. Here are the testimonies side-by-side. Shaul is not claiming to be a Prophet representing Yahuah. We can see this for ourselves. Therefore, his words are not the Words of our Father. Consider reading our post titled, Evidence Trumps Scholarship for more insight on the power of evidence.

Most do not interpret their testimonies using the Words from the Prophets as a foundation. As a result, they are putting their faith in manmade doctrines that have twisted and distorted the words of these eyewitnesses. These people are NOT in alignment with the Words of the Prophets which means they will be facing unfavorable eternal outcomes. It is important to learn how to hear and obey the Voice of our Father. Please consider reviewing our study titled, Hear and Obey the Voice of Yahuah.

It is important to learn how to hear and obey the Voice of Yahuah. Part of that process is learning to distinguish His Voice from other voices. The Greek writings are the voices of men sharing their testimonies. They are NOT the Voice of Yahuah. Our Messiah says the Voice of Yahuah is the Law of Moshe, the Prophets and the Tehillim (Psalms).

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moshe, and in the Prophets, and in the Tehillim, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Luke 24:44-45

Other writings may or may not be classified as “scripture” or the Word of Yahuah, however, we know with certainty that the Law of Moshe, the Prophets and the Tehillim are His Words. We can place our focus upon these writings and work diligently to align our lives with the Words of our Father so that we can avoid destruction.
